1940's Gala - 6 PM, Saturday, February 11, 2012

The Indiana Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) is hosting an annual St. Valentine’s Gala in the spirit of a 1940’s era USO gala. The event is held each year on the Saturday closest to St. Valentine's Day, beginning at 6 pm at Indianapolis Executive Airport. This year's event is on February 11, 2012.  Tickets are $60/person and include a fine catered dinner and dancing to the swing and big band music of the Starlighters, a 16 piece big band and vocalist. Surrounding the dining and dance floor will be a selection of World War II combat aircraft and vehicles.

The event also includes an era military and civilian impression (costume) contest, dance contest, and silent auction. Uniforms or civilian dress from the era are welcome as is modern cocktail attire or dress military uniforms. Advance tickets are required and may be purchased below by selecting the purchase button below. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Indiana Wing of the CAF, a non-profit organization.

The Indiana Wing maintains and flies two World War II aircraft, a primary trainer PT-26 Cornell and a liaison L-2A Grasshopper, to airshows around Indiana. Nationwide, the CAF maintains over 150 flying historic combat aircraft, the world’s largest collection, as a tribute to the several hundred thousand men and women who built, serviced, and flew them in defense of our nation.

Hamilton County’s Indianapolis Executive Airport is located at 11329 East State Road 32, which is 1 ½ miles East of Hwy 421 and 6 miles West of Hwy 31. The event is held in a large heated hangar off the main terminal building of Montgomery Aviation.  If snow/ice force cancellation of the event it will be announced on this website by 1pm on the day of the event.
