To Honor, Inspire, & Educate...
The Indiana Wing, Commemorative Air Force Youth Education program is designed to be either stand alone or integrated with a classroom curriculum. We can do presentations as short as an hour or as long as a half day. Field trips to our hangers are encouraged as the participants can usually climb aboard our aircraft, take pictures, and ask questions.
A typical event involves presentations and activities that are designed to:
Honor: We restore, fly, and maintain vintage warbirds to honor the thousands of men and women who did the same decades ago, so that we may live in freedom. By doing so we honor them by memorializing their courage, dedication, and sacrifice.
Inspire: CAF encourages people from all walks of life to literally "shoot for the moon!"; To reach for their goals, in spite of the odds and achieve excellence in all things.
Educate: To educate the public in many aspects of aviation, including the science and technology behind the warbirds we fly, with connections to modern day aviation.
We meet our objectives with youth by offering both short and long programs:
Short Program: This program may be either at your location or our hanger in Fishers. (Kokomo, and Terre Haute also possible) We may also be able to fly to your local airport. The program includes a history of the CAF and our aircraft, photo ops with the aircraft, a question-and-answer session, and more.
Long Program: The long program is usually for larger groups and involves multiple learning stations in a "round robin" type format. Each station offers age-appropriate learning activities that may include:
Depending on group size, we can offer a contest (such as paper airplane building) or draw a name to win a FREE ride in one of our aircraft! (Often at a later date, Parental consent required.)
If you are interested in an educational event, please contact Col. Randy DeWitt at (317)348-4884 or simply fill out the contact form below.
